The number of influencers today exceeds 3 million and is growing.
With influencer marketing becoming more appealing to brands, it's important to know what kind of influencers there are, how they're different from each other, what each type offers, their pros and cons, etc.
Celebs
Actors/actresses, journalists, chefs, athletes, models, etc: these people can be influencers without even trying. Celebrity influencers are typically considered to be mega influencers by tier (with more than 1 million followers). This means that a wide reach is guaranteed with a single post, but it will be very expensive. Depending on the campaign and finances, celeb influencers cannot be a constant and quick choice.
Lifestyle
Lifestyle bloggers mainly focus on fashion, make-up, interior design, food/nutrition, and fitness. They are knowledgeable in their fields and often become role models who impact or affect trends. Lifestyle bloggers are more on the expensive side, but as tastemakers, they will prove effective in promoting brands and expanding audience reach.
Campaigner
Social activism isn't only about going out to the streets. With the Internet and social media, the platforms where real change can be made have extended beyond the traditional methods. Some influencers focus on politics, the environment, economy, and industry, thus attracting people with the same passion and goals of making changes. This group of influencers is different from almost any other, and that is what sets them apart,
Employees/Customers/Fans
These people have first-hand experience of the products/services offered by companies. They can provide authentic reviews and opinions. This makes them a useful source of information. However, the sincerity of their promotions might be suspicious, especially in the case of employees or fans. Customers tend to be more truthful because they want to share their experience as consumers, both to be helpful to other purchasers and to give constructive feedback to the sellers.
Entertainers
Mukbangs, going to get a tattoo, video game streaming, song covers, performances: entertainers are focused on delivering interesting, captivating, insightful, and sometimes simply fun-to-watch content. Entertainers are skilled in visuals, which adds to their appeal. Depending on their follower base and number, this type of influencer can be a suitable choice for brands that want to spread awareness among a specific audience.
